Espresso Whipped Coffee
Whipped coffee or Dalgona coffee is still a huge trend, but my version uses real espresso (instead of instant coffee) and less sweetener for a taste that I prefer. Let me show you how to make DIY whipped coffee with real espresso.
Jump to RecipeThe “traditional” recipe for this kind of creamy, iced coffee is to blend together 2 tablespoon instant coffee, 2 tablespoon hot water, and 2 tablespoon sugar. You then spoon this on top of milk & ice. When I tried this recipe, I found it far too sweet. I’m also not a fan of instant coffee. Here’s a recipe that I came up with using espresso & less sweetener. I definitely prefer the taste, and I hope you love it too!
Brew the espresso
Begin by pulling two shots of espresso into a small bowl or tall glass. You can use an espresso machine with fresh coffee beans, a Nespresso machine with your preferred pod, or mix 1 tablespoon of instant coffee with ¼ cup of hot water for a similar taste without specialized equipment.
Add the sugar & whip
Next, place 2 teaspoons of granulated sugar into the bowl or glass, and blend it together with a hand-held whisk or a frother. Blend until the mixture is foamy and light caramel in colour.
Pour ice & milk into a glass
Add ice and milk to a glass and spoon over the whipped coffee mixture. Enjoy with a straw, or mix it together before drinking.
